Leisel's Stripedy Socks!

The socks made from the yarn dyed by Leisel are finally completed! The stripes even lined up. A friend asked for purple socks and I'm still trying to decide if these will qualify. I don't have any solid purple yarn, just variegated currently.

This week the girls and I were out at my parent's home on the coast. While there my Aunt Marlene and I went jetty fishing in North Cove. I caught two small perch that I threw back, but Marlene caught a good sized fish before the bait ran out. There was a bald eagle that caught a large fish not too far from where we were. He/she stood on the beach eating it but I didn't have my camera.

B. is back home again and he starts classes on Monday.

My friend and old college roommate, Karen, will be by shortly. She is an avid quilter and several ladies from her quilting guild are participating in a "Shop Hop". I'm going to tag along and visit. I don't do much quilting due to time and room constraints, but it should be fun.

Geeky Happy Birthday!

Today is B's 42nd birthday. Unfortunately, he's away from home so the festivities will be postponed until this weekend. This also happens to be the birthday of Susan, an old friend. I haven't seen Susan much over the past years, but happy birthday to her too.

I was able to get B season 1 of the original Star Trek series (hooray for ebay selling). And darn it all if it didn't arrive damaged. Amazon seems to be agreeable about replacing it though. My husband is a typical computer savvy, Star Trek watching, Monty Python quoting geek. Here's where I come clean and confess to a brief geeky phase, complete with multi-sided dice and a trip to a Sci-Fi convention. This picture was taken at a Halloween party. I have no idea who the guy is in the other Star Trek costume. I was slightly intoxicated and he just happened to be at the same party so somebody took a picture of us . Ah, college days. Anyway, Happy Birthday to B., I wouldn't humiliate myself by posting a picture like this for just anybody, but I figure that you could use a good laugh. The girls all miss you lots.

Leisel Rocks!

Today our mail carrier cowered as I charged her truck to retrieve my Dye-o-Rama package. It came! It came! Whoo hoo! My Dye-o-Rama spoiler turned out to be Leisel. She created this

delightful self-striping sock yarn that is so yummy I want to eat it. She must have known how hungry after seeing the yarn because she also sent two wonderful kinds of chocolate. And as if this wasn't enough, she also included some of the loveliest stitch markers. Thank you Leisel, I love it all. And my New Year's resolution to not have WIP's/UFOs floating around has been hopelessly shattered. I've cast on another pair of socks with this already before finishing my Jaywalkers or the Liv Sweater. I almost feel guilty!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all of those Dad's out there. Although my girls, A1 in particular, would be mortified that I'm posting this, here is one of my older, but favorite pictures of B doing the Dad thing. Giddy up Alpo!

And Happy Father's Day to my Dad. He builds boats, raises cranberries and can make just about anything under the sun. He BBQs fish that is to die for, is a math whiz and ran the 440 in 49 seconds while in high school. To my knowledge he has never changed a diaper during his 42 years as a Dad and Grandpa.
