Recycled Silk Sari Yarn
This is some yarn I recently purchased from eBay. This yarn was spun from the remnants of silk leftover from a factory that makes saris for women in India. Anyway, these remnants are collected and then spun by women so that they can support themselves. The colors are wild, kind of like color crayon vomit. The yarn does contain some debris and there is quite a variety of texture and thickness. As a result, it doesn't show patterns well and is best suited for plain patterns (like those that would be used with many of the Noro yarns). I'm currently working on a cardigan with it. Because it dose not have the elasticity of most yarns I'll have to wait and see how it turns out. The completed garment may be too heavy or stiff to be worn comfortably. In which case I'll use the remaining skeins for more purses.
So much yarn, so little time...
Okay, so I've been knitting a little bit more than usual lately. I confess that I even keep a project in the car with me for those extra long red lights. I keep trying to convince my husband that buying yarn and making Christmas presents for everyone will save us money. He's getting wise though because all of our "mad" money has now been transformed into balls of yarn wound up and stashed around the house. On the plus side, I've been better about finishing projects before starting others. It's just so darned difficult though when new yarn comes in. I just can't wait to start something new.
P.S. what's wrong with cold cereal for dinner once a week!
