Violet Scarf

Here is the violet scarf from today

Knitting Day!

Well, in true western Washington tradition the schools have closed because of three inches of snow. That means I will enjoy a very noisy day at home knitting. I snapped a quick picture of our house in the snow. The yard always looks better while blanketed and it won't last.

After washing and felting the enormous slippers twice they are still large. They will remain this size until they are tried on for size. I'm going to make a couple of more quick scarfs today (stocking stuffers). And if there is time I'm going to resume some needle felting projects. There is something totally satisfying about the repeated stabbing motion.

Warm chuckles on a cold night.

Okay, so this footage is a few years old. However, I've saved a link to it because it makes me laugh. I'll bet after the cameras switched off this reporter thought of a thousand things she could have said. Hindsight (literally in this case) really is 20/20. http://www.flnewscenter.com/kirostreaker.html

The Good, The Bad, The Really Ugly and the Really Big!

First off, sorry for the complaining... second, I apologize for the gross picture.

Let me begin by referencing some of the wonderful kinds of needles in this world. There are straight knitting needles, circular knitting needles, double pointed knitting needles, wood knitting needles, plastic knitting needles, metal knitting needles, sewing needles, embroidery needles, sewing machine needles, quilting needles, pine needles and even cacti needles are great (if you're a cactus).

But regardless of the benefits to mankind, I HATE hypodermic needles. Even after 3+ years of daily injections my hands still shake and I dread it every time. And yes, I am grateful for medical break throughs, and I'm even more grateful for Health Insurance, but the shots still suck. Tonight's left a lump and rash on my stomach and this is becoming the rule rather than the exception (hence the gross photo).

At this point I want a hot bath, a pair of my favorite knitting needles and lots yarn. I love the Clover Bamboo because they feel good but they don't break as easily as the Brittany and I'm rather accident prone!

Oh yeah, the really big too. I finished knitting a yet-to-be felted slipper for my father. He normally wears a 12 1/2 or 13 shoe, but these look enormous. Several trips through the washing machine will tell.

Happy Knitting and Good Evening to all!
