Apron Along?

Two days ago the multi-talented and ever-busy Sherrill posted a picture of an apron she sewed, along with a delightful homage to the neglected apron. And although she said she did not write this, I am glad she shared it. Here is a copy:

Aprons
I don't think our kids know what an apron is.
The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.
It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.
From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.
When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.
And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms.
Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into thekitchen in that apron.
From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.
In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.
When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.
When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.
It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that
"old-time apron" that served so many purposes.

So here's the deal... would anybody out there be interested in joining an "Apron Along"? If enough apron enthusiasts contact Sherrill then she will get one started! She has even generously offered to share her own apron pattern to whomever might want it.

Just think, this is a perfect time to start those holiday gifts. And who wouldn't love a handmade apron with a card containing a copy of the Apron tribute?

I just read the comments. My problem with bloglines is that I can't comment when I read the blog. Yes, I know, whine, whine, whine. By my other blog, do you mean the blogger? I didn't know anyone read it. I'll have to finish setting the darned thing up. I'm such a USER. I have to hurry over and sign up for the apron-a-long now. Have a great Sunday, Enabler Girl!!!!!

Heide...not a problem if they don't have a blog of their own, just won't be able to link to them for other to peruse.

I need your email to give you an invite. Doesn't show when you leave a comment on my blog and I don't see an "email me" area on yours.
